We need to follow Jesus

John 12:26

26 If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor
Jesus is very present and real. He is not just a person that used to be on earth and He isn't someone that just sits in Heaven and listens to our prayers. It is true, that we can be where Jesus is. We are seated in Heavenly places, scripture says, and we can live so close to Jesus that we can meet with Him before we die. Jesus simply wants us to know Him and to follow in His footsteps.

John 10:27

27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.
There are lot of people that have become Christians and given their lives to Jesus, but they have never heard Jesus speak. The only time some people have heard Jesus speak is in the red letters in the Bible where Jesus spoke two thousand years ago. As His followers we have the right to hear Jesus speak to us spirit to spirit. Jesus can direct you each day via His voice and we can learn to make right choices each day with our lives as Jesus leads us.

Matthew 16:24

24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.
To be a follower of Christ Jesus we need to lay down your lives and follow in His footsteps. A life of love for God involves a life of love for your fellow man and to love people often requires sacrifice on our part. If we are not willing to deny ourselves, and to take on a burden for God, we often won't be truly be following Jesus.

Worship God Alone

Matthew 4:10

10 Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’
Many people do not have an idea of worshiping God with their lives. Many people assume that worship is what happens each week at church before the offering and the sermon. Many people have no idea that you can live a life where you are in constant worship of the Lord Jesus. Many people do not know that you can walk daily in the presence of Jesus and whose life can be a life surrendered and always doing to will of God.
Sadly many people live a life where God is only part of their devotions in the morning, or part of their life on Sundays, and yet He isn't part of their daily minute by minute experience as they go thought their days. Sadly many people have lives with Idols and they commit time and money to those Idols. So many people live their Christian life with themselves on their throne, or steering their own life without Jesus being the center.
I know it may be hard to comprehend, but you were not born to run your own life and have yourself as Master of your own life. You were born to serve God and worship Him with everything that you do and say in this world. It is not impossible for you, but it does take effort like anything worthwhile.

Build your life on the Rock!

Matthew 7:24-27

24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.
26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”

Many people would like to know how to abide in Jesus and bear much fruit. One way to be like Jesus and prosper in life in all ways is to know what He taught and through the power of the Holy Spirit do what He said. Jesus has only just finished preaching the Sermon on the Mount when He said these verses about building your house on the rock. Jesus was saying, "Guys you just heard how I said to live your life, now it is time to obey Me!"
The sad thing that is the truth in Christian circles that I walk in, is that most Christians I know have never heard of the commandments of Jesus, let alone be living a life obeying them! In this book we are going to cover forty-nine of the commandments of Jesus and I am going to give a brief outline of what they mean.
We live in times that are getting dark right now. There is coming hard times and storms to this world very soon, and yet the people that are close to Jesus and who obey Him in the way that they live their lives will not be shaken and will not fall.

Why do you call Me Lord, Lord?

Luke 6:46

46 “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?

Many people do not understand what the word Lord means. Many people think it is just something that you call Jesus. "Jesus is Lord!", they say. Little do they know that Jesus is to be their Master if they are going to call Him Lord. Jesus is a savior to most people, and yet Lord to few.
Jesus came to earth to die for sins, yes, but He also came to show us a better way of living. Jesus came and lived His message. He did not just have a new way of teaching the Law of the prophets, He was the new way. That is why Jesus said to the people, that He was the Way, the Truth and the Life! ( John 14:6)
Jesus was never a man that did not forgive. Jesus was never holding a grudge against His enemies and Jesus never gossiped. Jesus never looked at a woman with lust in His eyes. The women who were very attractive and appealing like Mary Magdalene found this very desirable about Jesus. Used to men lusting over them, Jesus stood out as a model of purity.
Jesus in His teachings and His commandments taught a better way of living. If we are to call Him Lord, we are to know what He taught and use His grace to live like that.
